Two children were hospitalized after sustaining burns from lanterns and firecrackers during New Year's Eve celebrations in Dhaka. Dr. Shaon Bin Rahman, a resident physician at the National Burn and Plastic Surgery Institute, confirmed the incident. On January 1, the institute reported that one child, Farhan (8), suffered 15% burns and was admitted, while another child was treated with first aid and discharged. The children were reportedly injured while bursting firecrackers to mark the New Year. Despite a ban on public gatherings and firework displays from 6 pm on December 31 to 8 am on January 1, fireworks and loud music were heard across Dhaka, violating the restrictions.
