In Bijoynagar Upazila of Brahmanbaria, police arrested a fugitive robber during a raid. During a chase, five police officers ended up covered in mud after entering a marshy field while trying to apprehend him.
The incident took place late Friday night (April 10) in the “Kena” village of Budhanti Union. Acting on secret information, a team from the Islamnagar Police Outpost conducted the operation. After a chase of about half a kilometer, they managed to arrest the fugitive, identified as Murshid Molla, also known as Morshed, who was hiding in a field.
Police said the arrested Murshid is a warrant-listed accused in a robbery case under the Bijoynagar Police Station and had been on the run for a long time. He is the son of Chenu Molla from Kena village and faces a total of three cases related to theft, robbery, and preparation for robbery.
Sub-Inspector Ali Reza Mamun, who took part in the operation, said that Murshid tried to escape by entering a muddy wetland area. Police personnel chased him and, after a scuffle, managed to arrest him. During the incident, five police officers became covered in mud.
Bijoynagar Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) A.K. Fazlul Haque said that they made the arrest based on secret information. On Saturday (April 11), the court sent him to Brahmanbaria District Jail.
