A total of 1,522 police officers, who were dismissed during the previous autocratic Awami League government, are being reinstated. This was confirmed by Inamul Haque Sagar, the Additional Inspector General (AIG) of Media and PR at the Police Headquarters.
The Police Headquarters has stated that it has received 1,522 applications for the reinstatement of police officers who had been dismissed for various reasons during the previous government. The applicants include 1,025 constables, 79 naik, 180 Assistant Sub-Inspectors (ASI) and Assistant Traffic Sub-Inspectors (ATSIs), 200 Sub-Inspectors (SI), Sergeants, and Traffic Sub-Inspectors (TSIs), 10 inspectors, and 28 non-police personnel.
The Police Headquarters further revealed that a committee, headed by a Deputy Inspector General (DIG), was formed in August of last year to review the reinstatement applications. The committee has already submitted its report, which includes recommendations for the reinstatement of the officers. Arrangements are currently underway by the Police Headquarters to reinstate those who have been successful in their cases before the appeal tribunal.
