Samir Zaqout, a 12-year-old boy who was seriously injured in a drone strike on his home in northern Gaza in August 2025, has become the first known person to return to Gaza with advanced prosthetic limbs after receiving medical treatment in Jordan.
The attack caused Samir to lose his right arm and left leg. After months of rehabilitation and prosthetic treatment abroad, he gradually regained mobility and independence. His return represents a major step in his recovery journey and highlights the devastating impact of war on children, as well as the importance of long-term rehabilitation support for injured civilians.
