Pooja Madhav Wavhal, an IPS aspirant from Pune, has won India’s ‘Sleep Champion of the Year’ title after completing a 60-day sleep internship in Bengaluru. She beat 14 other finalists by averaging 9 hours of sleep per night and scored 91.36, earning ₹9.1 lakh.
Over 1 lakh people applied for the internship, which promotes sleep awareness. Only 15 were selected and given sleep trackers and mattresses. They joined workshops and fun tasks like blindfolded bed-making and a final “sleep-off.”
All finalists received ₹1 lakh each. The internship, launched in 2019, pays people to sleep 9 hours a night for 60 days. The story went viral, sparking funny reactions online, with one user saying, “She was dreaming of becoming an IAS officer!”
