Iran announced the 14th presidential election for June 28, following President Ebrahim Raisi's death in a helicopter crash. The decision came after an emergency meeting chaired by interim president Mohammad Mokhber, in accordance with Article 131 of Iran's Constitution. The first vice president assumes executive duties in such circumstances, and the interim president is responsible for organizing the election within 50 days. Registration for candidates is scheduled from May 30 to June 3, with electoral campaigns to run from June 12 to 27. Raisi and his team perished in the crash near Varzaqan, northwest Iran, returning from a dam opening ceremony on the Iranian-Azerbaijani border.
