"Dune: Prophecy," a prequel series on Max, has cast renowned Indian actress Tabu in a recurring role. Initially titled “Dune: The Sisterhood” and inspired by the novel “Sisterhood of Dune,” the series is set 10,000 years before Paul Atreides' rise. It follows two Harkonnen sisters as they confront threats to humanity and establish the Bene Gesserit order. Tabu will portray Sister Francesca, a powerful and intelligent former love of the Emperor whose return disrupts the palace's power dynamics. Tabu, celebrated for her roles in "Maachis," "Chandni Bar," and international projects like "Life of Pi," is represented by Neon Kite and United Agents. The series stars Emily Watson, Olivia Williams, and others. After multiple showrunner changes and a creative reset in 2023, Alison Schapker serves as showrunner. Produced by Max and Legendary Television, it continues the expansive "Dune" franchise, which has grossed over $1.1 billion from two films, with a third in development.
