China has inaugurated its inaugural artificial intelligence (AI) hospital town, employing AI-generated doctors to treat patients in a virtual environment, as reported by state media. The concept, described by Beijing's Global Times, involves training AI doctor agents in a simulated setting to autonomously enhance their medical capabilities. Researchers at Tsinghua University have developed the "Agent Hospital" within this virtual world, where intelligent agents manage all medical interactions. This innovation allows for efficient treatment of large patient volumes and offers medical students a risk-free environment to practice treatment strategies. The AI hospital town is set to become operational by late 2024 after six months of development.
