Pakistan has announced a new visa policy that allows citizens of 126 countries, including Bangladesh, to travel to Pakistan without a visa fee. Pakistan High Commissioner to Bangladesh, Ahmad Maruf, announced the policy during a meeting with Home Affairs Advisor Lt Gen (Retd) Md Jahangir Alam Chowdhury. He emphasized the need for resuming direct flights between the two countries to boost bilateral trade. The last direct flight was operated by Pakistan International Airlines in 2018. Pakistan also emphasized strengthening bilateral ties with Bangladesh and resuming direct flights. The meeting also touched on post-flood rehabilitation programs, improving bilateral relations, easing visa processes, and cooperation in agricultural research. The high commissioner called for strengthening bilateral relations and overcoming dryness in relations over the last 15 years. The two sides agreed to ease visa issues and discussed increasing cooperation in human trafficking prevention, counter-terrorism, and agricultural research.
