Somali pirates released the Bangladeshi-flagged MV Abdullah and its 23 crew members after nearly 32 days of captivity in the Indian Ocean. The ship, owned by Kabir Group, was hijacked on March 12 while carrying thermal coal from Mozambique to Dubai. A ransom in US dollars was reportedly airdropped from a helicopter on Saturday, leading to the release. The vessel is now en route to the UAE, escorted by several frigates, with the crew confirmed safe. This incident echoes a previous hijacking in 2010 involving another Kabir Group vessel, MV Jahan Moni, which was released after 99 days with its crew unharmed.
