Adani seeks Tk3,637cr electricity bill payment

Pranav Vinod Adani, director of Adani Enterprises, met with Bangladesh's Finance Minister to discuss outstanding electricity bill payments, totaling Tk 3,637 crore, owed by the Bangladesh Power Development Board (BPDB) to Adani Power. Adani Group highlighted the urgency of clearing these dues before the fiscal year's end. Concerns were raised regarding the pricing of imported coal and allegations of overbilling, despite Adani Power reporting significant profits. To address a power subsidy request, Bangladesh Bank approved over $1.12 billion for electricity charges. Unpaid bills for government and private power companies total Tk 42,707.16 crore.
