Protesters have blocked the Shahbagh intersection in Dhaka, Bangladesh, demanding that the minimum age limit for entering the government workforce be raised to 35 years, according to international standards. The protesters claim that in nearly 162 countries, the minimum age limit for applying for government jobs is at least 35 years, and in some countries, it is even more. The protesters have been carrying out the movement for 12 years, and the previous Awami League government has not accepted their demands. They demand the student-friendly government to implement the age limit without delay and publish it in the form of a gazette. The blockade has caused severe traffic congestion at Shahbagh and surrounding roads, with only ambulances allowed to pass through and most vehicles being redirected to alternative routes.
