Nabila Tabassum Miki became a BCS cadre without taking the BCS exam

Nabila Tabassum Miki, daughter of Chief Information Commissioner Dr. Abdul Malek, was appointed as an Executive Engineer at the Department of Public Health Engineering without taking the BCS exam. Under Malek's influence, she and 44 others joined the department in 2013 after passing a written and oral exam. Dr. Malek facilitated her promotion to Executive Engineer in 2022. In 2015, he issued a controversial notification promoting Nabila and 95 other officials to BCS cadre posts through nepotism. The High Court annulled this notification in June 2019. Dr. Malek retired in December 2019 and was appointed Information Commissioner in January 2020. Allegations suggest that Dr. Malek used his positions to secure illegal appointments and transfers, benefiting his daughter, Nabila, who has received promotions and government benefits without fulfilling regular duties.
