The Anti-Discrimination Student Movement has revealed that a significant portion of the relief fund, intended to support flood victims, has been deliberately held in a bank. Last night, Coordinator Hasnat Abdullah addressed this issue in a video posted on his verified Facebook account. Hasnat explained, "From the start of our fundraising efforts, we made the decision not to spend the entire amount immediately, but rather to reserve most of it. Why? Because past experiences have taught us that individuals impacted by natural disasters like floods often require financial aid more in the later stages. Now that the floodwaters have receded, those funds will be used to assist the victims. Initially, we had considered helping rebuild homes for those affected, but due to the audit of our income and expenditure not being completed, that wasn't feasible. Once the audit is finalized, all remaining funds will be directed towards the rehabilitation of flood-affected communities." He added, "None of the relief funds have been spent on the meetings or gatherings held by the movement in various districts. If anyone can prove that we misused the relief funds for any other purpose, I am ready to face any punishment without hesitation. Since the founding of the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement, the public has supported us voluntarily, and they continue to stand by us." Hasnat also mentioned, "We are only receiving support from others in the form of services. Some have helped with transportation, while others have provided accommodation and food. However, given the recent concerns, we are now considering releasing a detailed list of who is offering these forms of assistance." In conclusion, he stated, "If anyone can prove even a single taka of corruption, I will accept any punishment under the country's laws."
