Health Minister Announces Progress on Shared Health Record and Unique Health ID for All Citizens

Health Minister Samanta Lal Sen announced in parliament that the initiative to provide each citizen with a "unique health ID" is progressing, with 1,403,889 IDs already issued during the pilot phase. This experimental program is currently operational in selected hospitals, with plans for a broader nationwide implementation. The minister disclosed that 67 hospitals have been integrated into the automation drive as part of the Health Information System (HIS) and e-Health operation plan, overseen by the Management Information System (MIS) branch of the Department of Health. Efforts are underway to expand this automation to all hospitals to ensure comprehensive coverage.
