Father sentenced to death for raping daughter multiple times

A court located in Chuadanga has delivered a capital punishment sentence to a 46-year-old father, identified as Altap Hossain, following his conviction for the repeated perpetration of rape against his own teenage daughter. The judicial pronouncement, which occurred on the preceding day, also stipulated a monetary penalty of two hundred thousand taka. The victim in this egregious case, who entered into matrimony in February of the year 2024, subsequently discovered her pregnancy and thereafter disclosed the horrifying truth that her father had subjected her to multiple instances of rape spanning the period between December 2023 and March 2024, further compounding the trauma with threats of fatal violence. Prompted by this devastating revelation, the victim's mother initiated legal proceedings by filing a case under the provisions of the Women and Children Repression Prevention Act. This legal action led to a comprehensive investigation and a subsequent trial, during which the testimonies of eight individuals were presented as witnesses. In its verdict, the court underscored the mandatory nature of the imposed fine, explicitly stating that its payment constitutes a primary and non-negotiable obligation.
