Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) has announced that factories will be closed indefinitely starting next Monday if the ongoing unrest in the garment industry, caused by labor protests, is not resolved. On Saturday, September 14, factory owners and organization leaders convened with interim government advisors at the BGMEA office in Dhaka. Following the meeting, BGMEA declared that unless the unrest is addressed, factory closures will begin on Monday. The Bangladesh Knitwear Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BKMEA) has backed BGMEA's decision.
