The Bangladesh Meteorological Department predicts a mild to moderate heatwave in the latter half of May, following decreased pre-monsoon rains. Meteorologist Bazlur Rashid anticipates the heatwave from May 16, milder than April's severe one. Moderate heatwaves range between 38-39.9°C, while mild ones range between 36-37.9°C. Rainfall is expected to be normal in May, a relief after April's 81% deficiency. April saw a record-breaking 23 heatwave days in 76 years. On the upside, rain and thunderstorms are forecasted over the next three days in several areas across five divisions, including Dhaka.
