The Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) has demolished the controversial Sadeeq Agro farm in Mohammadpur to recover a canal and prevent future encroachment. The operation, which began on June 27 and concluded on June 29, was led by DNCC officials and has been well-received by local residents anticipating improved drainage and a better environment. The canal, once 100 feet wide, had been previously filled to create a truck stand. DNCC Mayor Md. Atiqul Islam initiated the re-excavation after assuming responsibility from WASA. While no concrete plans are finalized, DNCC officials propose creating a small recreation park at the canal's entrance to provide a community space and deter future encroachment. A playground for children is also planned on part of the recovered land.
