2.31 lakh Indian eggs arrive via Benapole at Tk7 per piece

On September 9, around 2.31 lakh chicken eggs from India arrived at the Benapole Land Port in Jashore. This marks the first egg consignment imported from India through Benapole this year. Previously, in November 2023, 61,950 Indian eggs entered via the same landport. Masudur Rahman, a revenue officer at Benapole Custom House, stated that the eggs would receive clearance after a prompt inspection. The invoice reveals that the total cost of the imported eggs was $11,272, with each dozen costing $0.56, equating to Tk5 per egg. After adding a 33% customs duty, the import cost rises to approximately Tk7 per egg.
