WhatsApp is developing new features for its messaging app, including a local network file-sharing option that lets users exchange various file types, such as photos and documents, without needing an internet connection. This feature, currently in beta testing, would require users to opt-in to be discoverable to nearby users, with the option to revoke this at any time, and promises end-to-end encryption for secure transfers. Another upcoming feature allows users to add personal notes to contacts, which remain private and unseen by the contacts themselves. These features, still in beta, could enhance user interaction by facilitating easier file sharing and adding useful notes to contacts.
