Meta is expanding its generative AI products, testing Meta AI chatbot on WhatsApp in India and integrating it into Instagram's search bar. Users can engage in DM conversations with Meta AI, asking questions or using pre-loaded prompts. The interface resembles that of Perplexity AI, sparking observations. Users can now search for Reels suggestions and explore new content by tapping prompts like "Beautiful Maui sunset Reels." Meta confirmed the experiment but didn't specify generative AI use in search. With Google's Reddit and TikTok results and Instagram's possible "Visibility off Instagram" option, Meta aims to boost Instagram's discoverability over TikTok.
