Once regarded as one of the country's most promising talents, the 33-year-old has had an inconsistent career, with a hit-or-miss performance in 11 Tests, 66 ODIs, and 48 T20Is, maintaining an average of around 25 across all formats since his international debut in 2014.

"I am definitely preparing for the national team. I still have age on my side," Sabbir told reporters, as cited by Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha (BSS).

The Dhaka Capitals have given the right-hander a new opportunity to showcase his potential by selecting him from the draft for the upcoming 11th edition of the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL). Sabbir, who recently participated in the Sri Lanka T10, missed last season’s BPL but is determined to make an impact this time.

"I’ve been given a chance in the BPL. I’ve played domestic T20 cricket worldwide, and I aim to make a strong comeback by performing well in this tournament," Sabbir shared.

"I have proven myself many times in the past. It’s crucial for me to prove my abilities again, and I hope to stay calm and composed," he added.
