Liverpool, Barcelona And PSG Have Been In Negotiations To Sign Matthijs de Ligt

Matthijs de Ligt, the most promising youngster in football now. Also, he is better known as the
golden boy of 2018. He started his career as a midfielder but soon he proved his skill best in
central defense. Young, dynamic and fierce De Ligt captains an Ajax team, which has brought
home Eredivisie title in five seasons and also has recently played in the semifinal of Champions
League. He ages 19 years old whilst being compared as the best defenders of all time. He was
exalted to be one of the best center back players throughout the whole season of Champions
League. In addition to that, he has already scored quite a few numbers of goals including some
sneakiest shots. Notably, Ajax did eliminate three-time defending champions Real Madrid.
Moreover, evidently Ajax gave a tough competition to Juventus while De Ligt appeared as a
strong opponent against Cristiano Ronaldo.

De Ligt once again proved the best of himself in the Copa Amsterdam held in the same year.
This tournament is mostly played by the under 19 players whereas based upon his performance
in the Future cup, De Ligt was given the opportunity to play with the 19 years old strikers just
when he was 15. He carried on the sportsmanship and let on his latent craftsmanship. Notable
that Ajax may have lost the tournament in final tiebreakers yet De Ligt became the player of the
tournament title. This title made many football experts assume De Ligt as the next biggest
superstar of football.

At present, Liverpool, Barcelona and PSG have become keen to take De Ligt in their club.
Sources say that Liverpool has already spoken to him though unofficially he is said to be looking
forward to joining Barcelona. Balague during his appearance in the BBC Five Live Football
Daily podcast said, ““They (Barcelona) think they have De Ligt, even though both Liverpool and
PSG have also been talking to him.” De Ligt’s popularity amongst the top clubs is due to his
excellent performance during 2016-2017. As the season started, he was playing in Ajax in the
under 21 team but soon he made his way out to the main squad. Besides, he was still a part of his
team during the qualifying matches of Champions League though wasn’t given chance to play in
the field. He drew peoples’ attention towards him also by scoring a goal in his debut match

though he was playing as the central defender. Afterwards, Ajax soon got qualified to play in the
final of Europa League and De Ligt held his first record of being the youngest player in any
European tournament. He played 11 matches in that season as well as 9 league matches in the
Europa League meanwhile keeping an average of 7.3.

De Ligt didn’t have the same sort of beginning of his career in the national team. It was because
of his mistake, the opposition team could score a goal against them and he was then altered after
the first half of the match but he carried on his practices, which is why, now De Ligt has become
the center of interest for most of the renowned clubs of football. He has won criticisms in his
favor too. Will De Ligt carry on his consistency or fall through is the question that can only be
answered in the future but for now, he has proved himself as the best choice for future.
