Argentina midfielder Leandro Paredes has been handed a 10 match FIFA ban for his involvement in the clashes following Argentina’s 1 0 defeat to Spain in the 2026 World Cup final. Teammate Nahuel Molina has received a seven match ban, with both players fined $90,000 (around Tk 1.1 crore).
The AFA has also been fined $321,000 (around Tk 3.9 crore) for disciplinary violations, including discriminatory chants and gestures. Argentina will play its next two home matches at 50% capacity, with one of the restrictions suspended.
Gavi and Argentina’s Thiago Almada have received one match bans, while coach Roberto Ayala has been suspended for three matches. The AFA plans to appeal the sanctions and could take the case to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) if the appeal fails.
