Argentina and Spain, champions of Copa America 2024 and EURO 2024, will face off in the Finalissima, uniting Europe and South America. UEFA and CONMEBOL's renewed Memorandum of Understanding from December 2021 underpins this event. Argentina secured their 16th Copa title with Lautaro Martínez’s extra-time goal against Colombia, despite Lionel Messi’s injury. Spain triumphed over England 2-1 in EURO 2024, with Mikel Oyarzabal scoring the decisive goal. The next Finalissima, following Argentina's 2022 victory over Italy, is expected in 2025.
