The recent masterpiece from Marvel Studios has done the unthinkable. The infamous movie has officially surpassed all the US box office records previously held by James Cameron’s movie ‘Avatar’ to currently sit comfortably on the second position. However, they do not seem to be at rest. Ever since its worldwide release on April 26, the movie has been blessed with record-breaking opening weekend of $357 Million at the US box office while earning $1.2 Billion in global perspective. It has not even been a month since its release, but the world already saw the movie’s recent sequel move aside James Cameron’s masterpiece at the US box office.
When released in 2009 and again later in 2010, Avatar made a ground-breaking earning of $760.5 Million globally. It did not even take one month for Endgame to smash that record: they already made $770.8 Million worldwide while there is still time for people all around the world to watch it. They are currently holding the second position in the US box office, only behind Star War: The Force Awakens who is sitting at top of the mountain with an impressive gross profit of $936.6 Million.
Considering the circumstances, Endgame may not go on to break the record held by The Force Awakens, but with its recent impressive records, the movie has been an example of pure class act where it has everything a movie enthusiast can ask for. This superhero epic sequel has seen the likes of Iron Man (portrayed by Robert Downey Jr.), Captain America (Chris Evans), Bruce Banner/Hulk (Mark Ruffalo), Thor (Chris Hemsworth), Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson), Hawkeye (Jeremy Renner), Ant-Man (Paul Rudd), Captain Marvel (Brie Larson), Rocket (Bradley Cooper), Thanos (Josh Brolin), James “Rhodey” Rhodes (Don Cheadle), Dr. Stephen Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch), Black Panther (Chadwick Boseman), Spider-Man (Tom Holland) and many more brought together in front of the audience at the very same time which is mouth-watering and a “dream come true” moment for any superhero lover. Despite all the effort, Endgame may just fall short to break worldwide box office collection of James Cameron directorial where they made $2.61 Million while Avatar made a resounding $2.78 Million. Endgame would have had a good opportunity to thrash all the records, if it was not for the recent release of Keanu Reeves starrer John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum. The movie went on to make massive $57 Million in its opening weekend, which is giving Endgame quite the challenge at the domestic box office chart of US.
With all being said, Marvel Studios should be proud of what they have managed to achieve in the whirlwind of epic movies being produced in recent times of US movie industry. They have managed to break so many varieties of box office records on and off the record that they have already set a standard for themselves which will be highly difficult and challenging for other competing studios in the industry. Even the legendary director James Cameron went on to congratulate Marvel Studios for their astounding achievements saying “it demonstrates that the film business is alive and thriving”.
This recent masterpiece has not only seen movie lovers get emotionally attached to the movie, it has raised expectations of people on a much higher scale. Whatever the next sequel of the movie will be, even though there has been no official word on it from the studio itself, audience will be eagerly waiting in anticipation to be awed and inspired by their next big creation.
