In the last five months, a total of 365 babies were born at the 50-bed Phulbari Upazila Health Complex in Dinajpur. Among them, 347 were normal deliveries and 18 were cesarean sections. Both mothers and newborns are currently healthy and safe.

Data from the health complex shows a steady rise in normal deliveries from January to May, with 81 in January (4 C-sections), 73 in February (4 C-sections), 67 in March (3 C-sections), 65 in April (4 C-sections), and 76 in May (3 C-sections). Officials say this trend reflects growing trust in government healthcare facilities over private clinics.

Each newborn is issued a birth certificate at the hospital to support easy registration and other official needs. Mothers receiving normal delivery care have reported positive experiences, highlighting safe treatment without any cost compared to expensive private hospitals.

Health officials credit skilled doctors, nurses, and midwives, along with proper prenatal and postnatal care, for the rise in normal deliveries. They added that only high-risk cases are referred for cesarean sections.

However, challenges remain, including a shortage of anesthesiologists, which limits surgical capacity. Authorities say improving staffing could further strengthen maternal healthcare services at the facility.
