Tamara Banks, a mother from Cincinnati, Ohio, USA, was sentenced to nine years in prison for the death of her four-year-old daughter, Carmity Hoeb. According to the New York Post, Carmity died in January 2022 from drinking excessive amounts of Mountain Dew, as she was fed only this soft drink by her mother. The child suffered from diabetes and severe tooth decay due to this unhealthy diet. Tamara neglected to seek medical help for Carmity when she fell seriously ill, and it wasn't until Carmity stopped breathing and turned blue that emergency services were called. The court found Tamara guilty of pushing her child to death through her actions.
