BNP Standing Committee member Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury stated that Ziaur Rahman led a revolution against Pakistan. Speaking as the chief guest at the Metropolitan BNP's Victory Rally pre-reunion event on the occasion of Victory Day, held at Sholashahar Revolution Park in Chattogram on Monday (December 16) afternoon, he remarked, "Martyred President Ziaur Rahman led a revolution against Pakistan from the Revolution Park in Chattogram. Ziaur Rahman is the country's chief and first freedom fighter. He was the first to declare the independence of Bangladesh from the Chattogram Radio Station."

Amir Khasru further commented, "Since politicians of the past were not successful, they will remain accountable to the people. Politicians must correctly chart their future political course in light of those experiences. That is democracy, and there is no room for deviation from it."

He added, "After independence, when Baksal was implemented, all political parties were silenced, newspapers were shut down, and the judiciary was controlled. Millions of people were subjected to disappearances, murders, oppression, and torture, including during the Liberation War. Martyr President Ziaur Rahman liberated the nation from that situation once again."
