A young man was killed and another seriously injured after being hit by a speeding pickup truck while crossing the highway with iftar items in Mirsarai, Chattogram. The accident occurred around 6:00 PM on Wednesday (February 18) on the Dhaka-Chattogram Highway, near Dakshin Sonapahar in Zorarangj Union.

The deceased, Jahed Hasan Sumon (20), was the son of Mohammad Yusuf. The injured, Iqbal Hossain (24), son of Mohammad Salim Uddin, was rushed to Chattogram Medical College Hospital after initial treatment at the local Upazila Health Complex. Both worked at the nearby Nahar Agro Group.

According to eyewitnesses and highway police, the accident happened when the two were crossing the highway after leaving their workplace with iftar items. Sumon died on the spot, while Iqbal sustained serious injuries.

Sub-Inspector Borhan Uddin of Zorarangj Highway Police confirmed the incident, stating that the truck involved has been detained. The body of the deceased will be handed over to the family following legal procedures.
