She claims that the fingerprint was later used to create a forged kabinnama, or marriage registration document, without her knowledge or consent. According to the woman, the incident began when some individuals collected a photocopy of her national identity card and a photograph, claiming that the documents were necessary to arrange a family card for her. A few days later, she was reportedly called in again and asked to provide her thumbprint on a piece of paper. The woman said she had no reason to suspect that the process was connected to marriage. However, she later learned that news of her marriage had spread throughout the village. She was subsequently shown a marriage deed that allegedly identified her as the wife of a local man. Speaking to a reporter at her home on Wednesday, the widow strongly denied ever entering into a marriage. She said she had neither attended a marriage ceremony nor met a kazi, the person authorised to solemnise Muslim marriages. "I never went anywhere to get married. I haven't even seen any kazi," she said, expressing disbelief over the document that allegedly recorded her marriage. The marriage deed reportedly names Abdul Quddus, a local resident, as the groom and Kazi Golam Mostafa as the person who officiated the marriage. The document states that the agreed dower, known as denmohor, was Tk 2.5 lakh, of which Tk 50,000 was allegedly paid in cash. The deed also lists Abdul Mannan and Saiful Islam as witnesses to the marriage. However, the individuals named in connection with the document have disputed the claims recorded in it. Saiful Islam, whose name appears as a witness, said he did not witness any marriage involving the woman and Abdul Quddus. His statement raises further questions about the authenticity of the document and the circumstances under which the alleged marriage was recorded. Kazi Golam Mostafa, who is identified in the deed as the officiant, also denied conducting the marriage. He said he had not solemnised the marriage and described the document as forged. The woman's allegations have raised concerns about the possible misuse of personal identification documents and biometric information. If her claims are substantiated, the incident could involve serious violations of her legal rights, particularly regarding consent to marriage and the authenticity of official records. However, the allegations have not yet been established through a police investigation, and the circumstances surrounding the preparation of the marriage deed remain unclear. Fulbaria Police Station Officer-in-Charge Md. Rashedul Hasan said no written complaint had been submitted to the police in connection with the incident so far. He added that the police would investigate the matter and take appropriate action if a formal complaint was received. The case has drawn attention to the importance of protecting personal information and ensuring that fingerprints, photographs and national identity documents are not used without proper authorisation. The widow's allegations also highlight the potential consequences of fraudulent documentation, particularly when it concerns a person's marital status and legal identity. Further investigation is expected to clarify how the marriage deed was prepared, who was responsible for collecting the woman's thumbprint, and whether the document was created or used unlawfully.
