At the America Business Forum in Miami on Nov. 5, Lionel Messi reflected on his career, shared excitement for the 2026 World Cup, and received the city’s key from Mayor Francis Suarez and Inter Miami co-owner Jorge Mas. Messi expressed deep gratitude, calling the honor “very special.” Dressed in a charcoal gray suit, he discussed his journey from Rosario to Barcelona, PSG, and Inter Miami, recalling Argentina’s 2022 World Cup win as “an indescribable feeling.” Though he hasn’t confirmed his participation in the 2026 World Cup, Messi said it would be “extraordinary” for soccer in the U.S. He emphasized that retirement isn’t on his mind and that he still enjoys playing. The event also featured President Donald Trump, FIFA president Gianni Infantino, and Formula One CEO Stefano Domenicali. Concluding the day’s program, Messi admitted he rarely speaks publicly but enjoyed the experience.
