Mehdi Hasan, a member of the Bangladesh Police, has shared a deeply emotional post on social media, expressing his anguish over being denied leave despite facing a devastating personal tragedy amid election duty pressure.

In a Facebook post on Saturday (February 7), Mehdi Hasan wrote, “I asked for leave, but it was refused. My son died. Thank you, Bangladesh Police. If I hadn’t stayed on duty, the election would have been delayed. Now tell me—what should I say to my wife?”

About an hour later, he shared another heartbreaking status, saying, “My wife still doesn’t know that her piece of her heart is no longer in this world. The doctor has forbidden me to tell her. What should I do with the things I bought for my baby? I have night duty again tomorrow. Can anyone bring my son’s body to me in an ambulance?”

In his posts, Mehdi Hasan also spoke about his family background and financial struggles. He wrote that he comes from a poor family and urgently needs his job to survive. Describing himself as a proud member of the Bangladesh Police, he said that even the death of his child could not secure him leave. He highlighted his academic achievements, including a gold medal in honors, an honors CGPA of 3.72, and a master’s CGPA of 3.90, along with 10 years of administrative experience. Expressing his desperation, he added that he is willing to work hard and live modestly with his wife and child if he can earn a stable salary, but said it has now become difficult for him to even breathe in his current situation.
