Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus stated, “We possess an infinite ocean, which is essentially a gold mine. However, we have never truly recognized or treated it as such. Our maritime activities there are very limited.”

He expressed these thoughts on Wednesday night (May 28, local time) at a "Friends of Bangladesh" event held in a hotel in Tokyo, Japan.

Professor Yunus emphasized, “This presents a golden opportunity to create a new economy centered around the ocean. This sea serves as a vital link connecting us to the rest of the world. Japan is actively participating in our deep-sea port projects. It is entirely possible for Japan alone to fund the development of our southern region, which could completely change the destiny of the people living there. The economy of this area could be transformed overnight.”
