There were indications earlier today that he was in serious condition in an intensive care unit at a hospital in Mumbai. Ratan Tata denied rumours about his health two days ago, saying that he was OK and had been admitted to the hospital for standard medical examinations because of his advanced age and associated medical issues. Additionally, he had pleaded with the media to stop disseminating false information. "Recent reports about my health have been going around, and I want to let everyone know that they are untrue. Because of my age and other medical conditions, I am currently having check-ups. There's nothing to worry about. The 86-year-old posted an official statement on social media, saying, "I'm still in good spirits and ask that the public and media please stop spreading misinformation." He was reportedly admitted in the early hours of Monday, October 7, to Mumbai's Breach Candy Hospital in a "critical" condition. Both the public and the business community held the seasoned industrialist in the highest regard for his moral principles. He assumed leadership of the Tata Group in 1991 after his great-grandfather Jamsetji Tata created it. The business flourished under his direction and is estimated to be worth $100 billion. Cyrus Mistry, who died in a vehicle accident in 2022, succeeded him as chairman after he retired in December of 2012. Ratan Tata was named chairman emeritus of Tata Sons, Tata Industries, Tata Motors, Tata Steel, and Tata Chemicals following his retirement. In addition, Ratan Tata oversaw the charity trusts of the Tata group and served on the international advisory boards of Mitsubishi Corporation and JP Morgan Chase. The Indian government bestowed upon him the Padma Vibushan, the second-highest civilian accolade, in 2008.
