Venezuelan opposition leader María Corina Machado has strongly criticized President Nicolás Maduro following his recent comments involving former U.S. President Donald Trump.

In an interview with Fox News on Monday (January 5), Machado said that Venezuelan citizens believe the award belongs to all of them and that the world was pleased to see Trump associated with it. When Machado received the prestigious prize last year, Trump had also issued a strong statement in response.

However, after Machado accepted the award in Oslo, Norway, tensions began to emerge between the two. As Venezuela faces a critical period of political transition, Trump’s remarks have drawn criticism from Machado.

According to a report by The Washington Post, citing White House officials, Trump reacted negatively to Machado’s decision to accept the Nobel Peace Prize and its implications for Maduro, stating that she did not deserve the honor.
