A remarkable mother, Shamsunnahar Kabir, founded the ‘Mahmuda Protibandhi School’ in Kaliakoir, Gazipur, after facing difficulty in enrolling her mentally disabled daughter in a regular school.

The institution began in 2014 with only five students in a rented house in Boribari and has now grown into a dedicated center on its own land in Dakshin Kalampur, providing education, treatment, and rehabilitation for children with special needs.

Registered under the Department of Social Services in 2022, the school now serves 80 students who receive free education, Eid gifts, and government educational allowances. Alongside academics, students are also trained in skills like dance, singing, painting, and computer use. With support from CRP, 20 students have already secured suitable jobs.

Kaliakoir UNO Tajwar Akram Sakapi Ibne Sajjad praised the initiative as a “ray of hope” and expressed commitment to supporting its financial and infrastructural development.
