During a CNN town hall in May 2023, Trump expressed his desire to end the conflict, saying, “They’re dying, Russians and Ukrainians. I want them to stop dying.” He said he would accomplish this by meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Russian President Vladimir Putin, a claim he continues to repeat on the campaign trail.
