Charlie Kirk, 31, the cofounder and CEO of the conservative youth organization Turning Point USA, has passed away after being shot during a debate event at Utah Valley University. The news of his death was announced by U.S. President Donald Trump on Truth Social. According to video footage, Kirk was seen addressing a large outdoor crowd when the sound of a gunshot suddenly rang out, after which he collapsed on stage as panicked attendees rushed to escape the scene. He was immediately taken to the hospital in critical condition, but later Trump confirmed that he had died, though major media outlets have not yet independently verified the report. The incident comes at a time of heightened politically motivated violence in the United States, marked by several recent assassinations and attacks targeting public officials. Known as a central figure in mobilizing youth support for Trump’s reelection campaign, Kirk was a highly visible conservative activist and a regular presence on college campuses across the country.
