A Dhaka court has imposed a travel ban on Bashundhara Group Chairman Ahmed Akbar Sobhan Shah Alam, his son and Managing Director Sayem Sobhan Anvir, along with six other family members. This decision, made on October 21, follows a request from the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC). The individuals affected by the ban include Afroza Begum, Sadat Sobhan, Sonia Ferdowshi Sobhan, Sabrina Sobhan, Safiat Sobhan Sanvir, and Safwan Sobhan, as confirmed by ACC Public Prosecutor Mahmud Hossain Jahangir.

The ACC's application states that the agency is investigating serious allegations against the Bashundhara Group chairman and his family, including money laundering, evading government revenue, land grabbing, loan fraud, embezzlement, and the transfer of illegal assets. To facilitate this investigation, the ACC has formed a search team, expressing concerns that the individuals may attempt to leave the country, thus necessitating the travel ban, according to ACC Deputy Director Nazmul Hussein.
