A transgender woman named Shila was found murdered in Kaukhali, Rangamati. On Monday (Feb 3) evening, police recovered her throat-slit body from her home in Betbunia Union. Originally from Hathazari, Chittagong, Shila had been living in Kaukhali for years and was known as a leader among the local transgender community.

According to locals and police, Shila earned a living by collecting money from businesses. After undergoing surgery four years ago, she started giving stage shows to another transgender person. She had also married a local man, but their relationship ended in a legal dispute due to his drug addiction.

On Sunday night, residents saw five strangers entering her house, but no one noticed when they left. The next afternoon, a neighbor alerted others when Shila didn’t respond, leading to the discovery of her body. Police suspect murder and have collected evidence. OC Md. Saiful Islam Sohag stated that drug activities might have been happening at her home, and her body has been sent for autopsy.
