In Faridpur, two robbers snatched a housewife’s earrings at gunpoint. The incident occurred early Tuesday morning (October 21) around 6:00 AM in Uttar Shovarampur, Ward No. 1 of the municipality. Although the robbers thought the earrings were gold, they were actually imitation. The entire incident was captured on the CCTV of a nearby grocery store.

The victim, Manju Rani Das (35), wife of local resident Bishu Das, was sweeping the road in front of her husband’s grocery store, ‘Ma Store,’ as usual. At that moment, two robbers on a motorcycle approached and snatched one pair of her earrings within just one and a half minutes.

Manju Rani Das said, “I sweep the street in front of the store every morning. Suddenly, two men on a motorcycle came. One stood beside me and pulled my earrings. The other pointed a pistol and threatened to shoot if I shouted. Out of fear, I handed them over myself.”

Bishu Das added, “I slept late the night before, so I got up late. Then I was called outside and saw the CCTV footage of the street in front of my store. At 6:10 AM, two young men wearing helmets arrived on a motorcycle. The one at the back first pulled the woman’s earrings, while the one in front threatened her with a pistol. She then handed over the second earring herself.”

Bishu also mentioned that in the past three days, two similar incidents occurred in Ambikapur, Badiapara, and Shovarampur Phultala. He warned that if the robbers are not caught quickly, they could commit more such crimes.

Md. Asaduzzaman, Officer-in-Charge of Faridpur Kotwali Police Station, said, “We are investigating the matter and trying to identify those involved in the incident.”
