In the footage, a tea worker shares the struggles of his wife, who works eight hours a day collecting tea leaves, yet earns only Tk 178 for her labor. He explains that she must collect a minimum of 23 kilograms of tea leaves daily to qualify for the full wage. If she falls short of this target, even by a small amount, Tk 7 is deducted from her already limited earnings, putting further strain on the family’s finances.
The video sheds light on the difficult reality of tea garden labor, where long hours, physically demanding work, and rigid production targets leave workers with minimal income.
