At a recent press conference at the Secretariat in Dhaka, Cultural Advisor Mostofa Sarwar Farooki described the student-led 2024 uprising as a revival of the ideals of Bangladesh's 1971 Liberation War. He emphasized the importance of unity beyond religious and linguistic divides to ensure progress as a diverse nation.

Farooki criticized the neglect of the liberation’s true vision— a society rooted in personal freedom and creativity. He noted that overusing the phrase "spirit of the Liberation War" as a slogan has led to stagnation, which ultimately sparked the 2024 movement.

The Ministry of Culture announced seven key initiatives, including a “Remembering the Monsoon Revolution” program featuring workshops by prominent filmmakers across the country’s eight divisions. Other projects include a music album celebrating songs by National Poet Kazi Nazrul Islam, youth talent searches, and creative writing workshops organized by the Bangla Academy.

Major cultural developments will include the creation of a Nazrul Stage in Kuakata and a Bidrohi Chattor in Dhaka. Officials also called for a fresh perspective on historical icons like Rabindranath Tagore and Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, urging recognition of other significant contributors to the nation’s cultural heritage.

These initiatives aim to spark a cultural renaissance and promote inclusivity. Plans include oral history projects, advanced video installations at the National Museum, and workshops for content creators.
