The July-August movement, which started with demands to abolish quotas in government jobs, gradually transformed into a powerful initiative to overthrow the government, ultimately achieving its goal. Following this success, discussions on state reforms took center stage. The student leaders behind the movement are now looking to test their influence in the electoral field. A new political party, tentatively named Janshakti, is expected to launch within the next two months.

Nasiruddin Patwary, the convener of the National Citizen Committee, mentioned that the new party would take a completely different approach. Building on the movement’s momentum, its primary focus will be to earn the trust of the people. Students from both public and private universities are anticipated to join the party, which also plans to contest the upcoming parliamentary elections. To support its activities, the party aims to raise funds through crowdfunding.

Commenting on the party’s potential, Sarjis Alam, spokesperson for the National Citizen Committee, said, “We hope they will move beyond words and demonstrate their commitment through actions.” Nasiruddin Patwary further stated that the party’s name will be finalized based on public feedback, adding, “Our goal is not power but the welfare of the nation. If elections are held before the trial of genocide perpetrators, our focus will be to ensure justice for the victims.”
