A 100-year-old daughter continues to care for her 130-year-old mother, proving that some bonds never fade with time. Frail and dependent due to old age, the two women have become each other's only source of comfort and support. They have spent their final years together in a crumbling hut in Garmati village of Gopalpur Union, Baraigram upazila, Natore.

The mother and daughter are Fatema Begum and Manikjan. Fatema lost her husband shortly after Bangladesh's independence, while her only son passed away around a decade ago. Since then, the two have relied solely on one another.

Although Fatema's national identity card lists a lower age, locals believe she is between 125 and 130 years old. Neighbors offered whatever help they could, but the pair continued to live without a safe home.

Their story reached the Human Services Foundation, which first provided food assistance before deciding to build them a permanent house after seeing the dangerous condition of their shelter.

Overwhelmed with emotion, Fatema and Manikjan welcomed the news of their new home. As they recalled memories of childhood, family and more than a century of life, hope and relief were visible in their eyes.

Having spent nearly their entire lives battling poverty and hardship, a secure home in their final years is their greatest blessing. Locals hope their story inspires more compassionate people to stand beside those in need, bringing dignity, security and hope to many others facing similar struggles.
