The Bangladesh Financial Intelligence Unit has asked banks to provide account information for cricketer Shakib Al Hasan and his wife, Umme Ahmed Shishir.

In a letter sent today, the anti-money laundering agency has instructed banks and non-bank financial institutions to submit details regarding savings, current, fixed deposit receipt, and deposit plus scheme accounts held in their names, as well as those related to any organizations or companies linked to them, within the next five business days.

Recently, the Bangladesh Securities and Exchange Commission imposed a fine of Tk 50 lakh on Shakib, a former member of parliament for Magura-1, for manipulating the share price of Paramount Insurance in 2023.
