A mobile court fined a person Tk 40,000 for organizing a campaign rally in violation of the electoral code of conduct in support of independent candidate Barrister Rumin Farhana in the Brahmanbaria-2 constituency (Sarail, Ashuganj, and parts of Bijoynagar).

The mobile court was conducted by Executive Magistrate Shahriya Hasan Khan of the district administration at around 4:00 pm on Saturday (January 17) in the Islampur area of Sarail upazila.

According to mobile court sources, Rumin Farhana’s supporters arranged a promotional gathering in Islampur under Noagaon Union of Sarail upazila on Saturday afternoon, breaching election rules. As a result, a supporter named Jewel was fined Tk 40,000.

Following the fine, Rumin Farhana became agitated and behaved rudely with the executive magistrate. During an argument, she reportedly showed her thumb at the magistrate. Her personal assistant, Zakir Hossain Shuvo, also made the same gesture. A video of the incident has since gone viral on social media.

Sarail Upazila Nirbahi Officer and Assistant Returning Officer for the Brahmanbaria-2 constituency, Md Abu Bakar Sarkar, confirmed that the fine was imposed through a mobile court for violating the electoral code of conduct, and that the candidate later engaged in inappropriate behavior toward the magistrate.
