A man in India’s Odisha brought his dead sister’s skeletal remains to a bank after staff allegedly refused to let him withdraw money from her account without her presence.

The incident happened at the Maliposi branch of Odisha Grameen Bank in Keonjhar district. Jeetu Munda was trying to withdraw ₹20,000 from the account of his sister, Kalra Munda, who died on January 26, 2026.

He claimed bank officials repeatedly told him to bring the account holder in person, despite informing them that she had passed away. Frustrated, he exhumed her remains and brought her skeleton to the bank as proof of her death.

Police later stepped in, assured him help with the withdrawal process, and supervised the reburial of the remains.
